The story

The company was founded in 1975 by the Wiechmann couple in Sønderjylland - the Southern part of of mainland Denmark - and has since been a small family-run company with a lot of personality.

Duckfeet is designed and produced based on ideas of simplicity and honesty - a pair of Duckfeet doesn't pretend to be something they are not. The first models designed and produced were Jylland and Sjælland, and both are still produced and sold today without any changes to design. In fact, the pattern for all our shoes has been left unchanged since 1975 when the first pair of Duckfeet saw the light of day.

In the mid-1970s, Sønderjylland was the stronghold of shoe production in Denmark. The women sat at home sowing shafts that were then later assembled at factories, so it came natural to Inga and Claus to start their shoe production in Skærbæk, Denmark.

Foot-shaped shoes and full-grain leather were the trend of the time, which is why it was an obvious decision for them to follow that direction. Duckfeet earned great success throughout the 1970s and early 1980s in Denmark, and also in Germany, where the foot-shaped style of shoes quickly came to be called Entenschuhe.

As time passed, the production of Duckfeet moved from Denmark to Poland with its long tradition in shoe crafts, and we have since had an amazing and very close collaboration with the factory.

As fashion shifted up through the 1980s, the original Danish duck feet style shoes with the flag printed on the side, faced hard times. From being a household item with every manufacturer in the 1970s, only Duckfeet had retained the easily recognisable yellow duck's feet shaped design and durable leather craftsmanship.

In 2004,  Wiema Sko ApS was acquired by Vibeke Dissing, who was delighted to be able to continue the production of first quality Duckfeet in the same exquisite Danish design.

Vibeke and her whole team are very proud to be able to continue Duckfeet nurturing the same values as when the company started in 1975: To make a simple designed shoe using only the best materials and with great respect for the environment.

Our motto at Duckfeet is simply:

Keep it simple, not stupid.
